Minor Surgery at MMC

Minor surgical procedures are small operations that can be safely performed in a clinic setting under local anaesthesia, without the need for hospital admission or general anaesthesia.

At Mission (Hougang) Medical Clinic, our experienced doctors perform a range of minor procedures including skin lesion removal, wound suturing, and abscess drainage — safely and efficiently in our clinical environment.

All procedures are performed under sterile conditions. Your doctor will explain the procedure, risks, and aftercare instructions clearly before proceeding. An appointment is required for minor surgery.

Your visit

What to expect

01

Consultation & assessment

Your doctor will assess the area to be treated and confirm whether the procedure is appropriate and safe to perform at the clinic.

02

Procedure under local anaesthesia

The area is numbed with local anaesthetic. The procedure is then performed under sterile conditions. Most minor surgeries take 15–30 minutes.

03

Aftercare & follow-up

Detailed wound care instructions will be provided. Follow-up visits for dressing changes or suture removal are arranged as needed.

An appointment is required for all minor surgical procedures. Please do not eat or drink heavily before your appointment. Bring a list of any current medications, particularly blood thinners.

Common questions

Minor Surgery FAQs

Local anaesthetic is used to numb the area before any procedure, so you should feel minimal discomfort during the surgery. You may feel some pressure or movement but not sharp pain. Post-procedure discomfort is usually mild and managed with simple painkillers.
Most minor procedures take between 15–45 minutes depending on the complexity. Your doctor will give you an estimated duration during the consultation. Allow extra time for preparation and recovery before leaving the clinic.
For most minor procedures, you can drive yourself home as only local anaesthesia is used. If sedation is required for any reason, you will need someone to accompany you. Your doctor will advise you beforehand.
In many cases, removed tissue (such as skin lesions or cysts) is sent to a laboratory for histological examination. Your doctor will inform you whether this is necessary and follow up with results when available.
