What Is Rokeby Protein Smoothie?
Recently I tried the Rokeby Protein Smoothie and it’s a little bit like an athlete or bodybuilder who claims they don’t lift weights. Because the Rokeby Protein Shakes are marketed as being made with fresh milk but with no added protein powders.
Rokeby Farms Protein Smoothies are ready to drink protein drinks that have 30g of protein per 425ml bottle. They are described as “whole protein” smoothies because the milk naturally contains nine essential amino acids needed for muscle repair and general body functions.
Anyway in this article, I will be taking a look at the Rokeby Farm Protein Smoothie, you’ll hear what my experience was like, why you might want to try one and a doctor’s honest opinion about protein shakes. More of that later on.
How is the Rokeby Protein Smoothie made?
While other ready to go protein shakes are made by adding dried protein powders (like whey) into water or milk, the Rokeby Protein Smoothie is made by concentrating the natural protein in fresh milk with cold filtration. So there is no extra protein added via powder.
Rokeby Protein Smoothie Nutrition & Benefits Breakdown
Rokeby Protein Smoothies come in 425ml bottles with 30g of protein. They have reasonable calories (250-300 kcal), high calcium (800+mg) and moderately high sugar (around 20g). However Rokeby Protein Smoothies do have lactose in them even though it’s low lactose (2.1g per bottle). So if you are lactose intolerant you would have to choose a lactose-free option such as Fairlife Protein Shakes.
Dr. Titus Leong explains that adult men typically need about 0.84 g of protein per kg of body weight per day, while women usually require around 0.75 g/kg. He notes that active people trying to build muscle, as well as older adults, often do better with higher amounts — up to 1 g/kg or more — to aid muscle development and reduce age-related muscle loss. For tailored guidance, he recommends speaking with a dietitian.

Rokeby Farms Protein Shakes Varieties Available
Rokeby Farms Protein Shakes are available in six different flavours: Dutch Chocolate, Strawberry, Double Espresso, Banana Honey Honey + Cinnamon, Choc Honeycomb and Vanilla Wafer. All of them use filtered low-fat milk with no added protein powders and have about 30g of whole milk protein. The main differences are the flavours.
Potential Benefits & Who Might Need It
There are a few reasons why you might want a protein drink like Rokeby Farms that gets it’s protein from the milk itself instead of adding protein powder.
The first thing is that milk content is roughly 20% whey (fast digesting) and 80% casein (slow digesting). This gives both rapid amino acid delivery and a longer “drip-feed” for muscles in one drink. What does this mean? Basically Rokeby Farms protein smoothie will help in muscle building and muscle maintaining at the same time. Without having to need two separate products.
Milk also naturally has calcium, phosphorus, potassium and other vitamins meaning a milk-based protein drink is a more complete food product then just isolated protein drink.
Taste is also important to consider. Milk based protein shakes tend to taste more like flavoured milk, so you might find that is easier to drink compared to some protein powder heavy options. Also milk itself naturally has flavour, so other protein powder options might need extra sweeteners to get it to taste good.
Rokeby Farms Protein Smoothie is also good for people who are need a ready to go protein drink or are travelling. Recently I was travelling overseas and I couldn’t bring protein powder and a shaker bottle or it was troublesome to do so as you may not be able to wash the shaker bottle as well. So finding a ready to go protein shake was much more convenient for me.
However if you are lactose intolerant, then you would need something like Fairlife Protein Shakes as they are lactose-free.
Although protein shakes are generally considered safe, Dr. Titus Leong notes that gastrointestinal discomfort, like bloating, is a frequent side effect, especially in people with existing digestive problems. He also cautions that, even though regulations are tighter in Singapore than in some other countries, it is still prudent to stick to reputable brands.
Rokeby Farms Smoothie Taste Review
After trying all of them, my favourite is the Dutch Chocolate as it tastes like classic chocolate milk but with added protein. Banana Honey & Cinnamon is also another favourite of mine as it has a unique taste. And lastly, Chocolate Honeycomb also tastes quite good to me.
How does Rokeby Protein Shake Compare to Other Brands?
We have reviewed protein shakes from Fairlife and Muscle Nation before, so how does Rokeby’s Protein Shake compare to them?
| Brand & Product | Protein | Calories | Carbs / Sugar | Fat | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rokeby Protein Smoothie (Dutch Chocolate, 425 ml) | ~30 g | ~280–287 kcal | ~27 g carbs / ~25 g sugar (mostly milk + some added) | ~6–6.4 g | High-protein flavoured milk style, low-lactose (~2.1g), not sugar-free, natural whole milk protein (no powders), high calcium |
| Fairlife Protein Shake (e.g., Core Power / Nutrition Plan chocolate, ~414 ml) | ~26–30 g (26g standard, up to 42g in Elite) | ~150–170 kcal | ~3–8 g carbs / often 2–5 g sugar (reduced sugar) | ~2–4.5 g | Ultra-filtered milk, high protein with lower sugar and calories, lactose-free, great for low-carb needs |
| Muscle Nation Daily Shake (typical choc flavour, 400 ml) | ~30 g | ~186 kcal | ~9 g carbs / ~7 g sugar (uses some sweeteners) | ~2.8 g | Macro-friendly “fitness” shake, low sugar focus, gluten-free, ready-to-drink convenience |
Values are approximate and based on official/verified sources (e.g., rokebynutrition.com, fairlife.com, musclenation.org). Nutrition can vary slightly by region/batch—always check the product label. This is general information, not medical advice—consult a doctor or dietitian for personalized guidance.
Rokeby Farms Protein Smoothie tends to have a bit higher protein content than the others. But not as much as a post workout protein drink. It also has higher calories and higher carbs than the other two. Rokeby Farms Protein Drink also has high sugar compared to the other two brands. So it also tends to taste sweeter than the other two brands.
Muscle Nation Daily Shake has the least protein, least calories and least sugar but it does taste a bit chalky like the standard protein shake.

Recipes Ideas
While most of the ready to go protein shakes are taste better, sometimes you might get bored of the taste or you just want to try something different. Here are some recipe ideas that you can consider:
High Protein Oats
So this method is pretty easy to do. Instead of using regular milk when making oats, swap it out for Rokeby’s Protein Smoothie. Mix about 40g of rolled oats, 200ml of Rokeby Smoothie and any extra toppings you want. Giving you a high protein Rokeby Breakfast Smoothie.
Coffee (Profee)
This idea is also pretty easy to do especially if you love coffee. When making coffee or latte, swap out regular milk for Rokeby Smoothie. This way you get a high protein latte (or whatever coffee you are making).
